How many types of Indian plants are there?


India is a vast country with a diverse range of ecosystems and habitats, resulting in a rich flora with a large number of plant species. According to the latest available data from the Botanical Survey of India, there are about 49,000 plant species in India, which includes both flowering and non-flowering plants.


Out of these, about 21,000 species are flowering plants, which are further classified into various groups such as angiosperms, gymnosperms, and pteridophytes. Angiosperms are the most diverse group, with more than 18,000 species found in India.


It is important to note that the number of plant species in India is constantly changing as new species are discovered and taxonomic classifications are revised. Therefore, the above numbers may not be entirely accurate or up-to-date...
